Organizers:
S. Howison (Oxford), J. Ockendon (Oxford), C. Elliott (Sussex).
The primary objective of the meeting is to promote the pivotal role played by the Hele-Shaw models within the general context of free boundary problems. Hele-Shaw free boundaries have been found in areas as diverse as solidification, tumour growth, porous medium flows or option-exercise in finance.
The meeting is sponsored principally by the London Mathematical Society, but also by Cambridge University Press (via the European Journal of Applied Mathematics).
Contributions will deal with various aspects of the Hele-Shaw problem: rigorous theory, asymptotics, numerics, experiment and links with other problems such as Stefan problems or Stokes flow.
The following have said they intend to participate: R. Almgren, M. Ben Amar, J. Blowey, J. Chapman, R. Craster, L. Cummings, J. Dewynne, I. Eames, V. Entov, J. Escher, B Gustafsson, V. Hakim, J.
