This workshop aims to continue the series of meetings on the numerical and computational aspects of the mathematical treatment of free boundary problems started during the life-time of the ESF/FBP scientific programme (1993/97).
Following a tradition of meetings of this type, started in Jyväskylä (1993), continued in Pont-à-Mousson (1994), Pavia and Freiburg (1995), Lamoura (1996) and Ittingen (1997), a annual meeting to address, in Europe, the numerical analysis and the computational simulation of phase change problems and interfaces approximations, will contribute to the continuing co-operation and exchange of expertise in this interdisciplinary field.
